Everyone loves a good bar scene, good music and of course great food. The key is ambiance here, and most importantly service. Both of these are fairly new yet full of experience as they both are part of a hospitality group.Drake's West HollywoodDrake's is the new kid on Melrose and they deserve all the respect and spotlight they have on them. Vandelay Hospitality Group is laying the foundation in Los Angeles with their first restaurant being Hudson House. I have mentioned Hudson House in a past newsletter and how they provide an amazing New York ambiance. Drake's in my opinion has exceeded their own expectations. It has become the new hotspot! With prime real estate being a factor, it is hard to miss. Walking distance from Santa Monica Blvd and Doheny makes it not only convenient but part of peoples weekly rotation. Their bar is stunning and the food is to die for. P.S make sure to order the filet mignon pizza. Did I mention the service and hospitality? Vandelay Hospitality group not only knows how to open successful restaurants but they know how to staff them as well. Carrie Crawford, the General Manager of the place knows how to run the ship. Her amazing attitude, service and hospitality skills are the foundation to this successful place.Fleur RoomIf you ever wanted to go out for music and drinks but never liked the typical club scene I would look no further than Fleur Room. Fleur Room is a destination ran by the TAO Group, where their focus was to create a sophisticated ambiance where adults can go grab a drink and listen to amazing music. Full disclosure, there is no food as it is connected to LAVO. LAVO is TAO's iconic Italian restaurant which I have featured in the past. If you are looking for food and a way to get your music fix this duo is perfect. Since I'm on the topic of music I have to give a huge shoutout to DJ Spider who knows how to feel a crowd and play fantastic music. His residency there is usually on Thursday and Saturday nights. With a lovely staff and well trained bartenders this sets the tone for an experience like no other. Obviously being accompanied by LA's finest guests and residents, entry is not always guaranteed nor promised.“Without music, life would be a mistake.” - Friedrich Nietzche Wine of the Week“Old wood best to burn, old wine to drink, old friends to trust, and old authors to read.”– Francis BaconJean Chauvenet, Bourgogne 2018 I love my French wine and truth be told I prefer it over US wine. With all respect to our lovely domestic wine, it is obviously all relative. If you are looking to venture to French Pinot Noir and want a solid choice, this is the way to go. Average price is $40 Echo de Lynch Bages, Pauillac 2014 Paulliac is a staple in the wine world, and is well respected all over. I highly recommend this bottle for anyone looking to have a nice steak dinner and want something with depth and complexity for a great price. Average Price is $50 Fontanafredda Barbaresco Coste Rubín Italian Barbaresco is a classic and has been around since 1894. This is a lovely wine that will pair with just about anything. Just like most Italian wines this is a dry wine with a bold finish. If you're looking to impress someone with a quality wine under $80 this is the way to go.
